I have a question though - since I upgraded, I do not see TeamGermany & eatSlugs server in my list anymore - is this because they haven't upgraded their server? If so, is there any way I can still connect even if I'm upgraded? Can I run both 1.3 and 1.4?

How to Run Quake 1.3 and 1.4:

1. Copy ur installation of Quake4 with 1.3

If u have installed quake4 with point release 1.3 in a path like this (for example)

"C:\Id software\quake4\"

..just copy ur whole quake4 folder to a folder named quake4old or wotever, so u will have

"C:\Id software\quake4\"
AND
"C:\Id software\quake4old\" .

2. Download the new version 1.4.2

Download the most recent version of quake4, its 1.4.2.
U may find it here:
http://www.idsoftware.com/

In the menu click on 1.4.2 Point Release and download it.

3. Install the new version 1.4.2

Now run the 1.4.2 point release and install it in ur current installation of quake4.

4. ALL DONE

U will be able to play old quake4 (1.3) when u execute ur quake from ur quake4old folder then and
U will be able to play new quake4 (1.4.2) when u execute ur quake from ur normal quake4 folder.

I reinstalled quake and updated only up to version 1.3. Then I tried to install and run the v78d of Q4 Max, Every time I tried to run it, I'd get "error initializing" message

I looked up the error and it points to an incompatibility between my Quake 4 and Q4 max versions.

So I downloaded Q4max version 77a which works fine - except there are only 46 servers coming up. So that can't be right. The next version is v78 but I can't make it run with Quake 4 1.3

What am I doing wrong here?! What is latest version of Q4 Max that will run with 1.3?

I know - I've decided to run both though & here's why....

I have the same problem but the other way around

Here is a screenshot for the servers in version 1.3 at 6:00PM New York time, sorted by how many players are on the server:

Notice the pings, how few players, and no freeze tag.

And here's 1.4 at the same time:

I always check ver 1.3 first, usually don't find anyone there, and then I run 1.4. I'm trying, I think the time you are playing I am probably asleep or at work anyway, you know?
